The first tokidoki bags…

milksugar is an online European store that sells tokidoki bags! They are not the same bags that we have seen from LeSportsac or even the new tokidoki EU collection though. The bag designs are a little bit more emo/punk rock somewhat (like a mix between Emily the Strange and Ruby Gloom). Nonetheless, you can still see a little tokidoki style in it.

According to milksugar, this is their story on tokidoki:

A few years ago the young Italian designer Simone Legno created figures in the Japanese Manga style. Provocative and graphically extremely good. Tokidoki was born.

At that time Simone was just as unknown as his figures were. Until Vadobag – the largest manufacturer of licensed comic bags in Europe – created several collections of gorgeous bags according to Simone’s models. We call these first, authentic designs Tokidoki Classics.

Ultimately in 2004 Tokidoki’s worldwide story of success began.

mlksugar+ a leading online shop for trendy bags began marketing Tokidoki on the internet. The success was mind-boggling. In a few weeks we made Tokidoki to an established brand name.

Nobody worldwide has sold more bags from the Classics-collection than milksugar+.

Unfortunately the cooperation between Simone Legno and Vadobag was not continued after the gorgeous and successful collections. Today no more Tokidoki are being manufactured in Europe by Vadobag. In the meantime there is a line of very expensive bags in the USA which however in our opinion do not achieve the same level of fun as Tokidoki Classics.

When the European project failed milksugar+ bought up all available Tokidoki on time. That is why today, milksugar+ is the only shop worldwide which can still deliver a large selection of Tokidoki. Original, authentic and at bargain prices!

We have the unique Tokidoki. Most of the models only available here.

You can still get these bags from them on their online store which is going at about 20 – 50 euros each, plus, they provide international shipping! Hurray for people here in Asia.

tokidoki meets good ol’ denim jeans

OMG!! Was trolling the web for tokidoki (as usual) and to my surprise I found tokidoki jeans!!! *I can hear my wallet whimpering*

These jeans which are available from the Europe collection, is simply divine and oozing coolness.

Check out the leather label (cool-factor +10)! Also, I like how each back pocket is different; featuring a close crop of the tokidoki logo, as well as one of his more notable Asian lady characters.

This washed-out black denim together with the black leather label is simply Fierce – with a capital F! Check out the black patent/leather logo print on the back pocket. It’s all these attention to detail and the mix of materials used that gives the Europe collection the +10 GLAM factor. We so love the small details in every single pair!

They even have a cotton drawstring pants edition with Adios and Ciao Ciao on the bum pockets. Kawaii!!

Don’t worry, they haven’t forgotten all the blokes out there! For the boys, there are 3 different denim versions:

The one above and below has different back pockets; one with white Adios star and the other with blue Adios star stitchings. As you can see, the detailing on the right bum pocket is also different; one with black embroidered stitchings and the other blue. Check out the prints on the inside of the jeans (end of the leg)!! *drools*

These jeans are definitely on our to-buy lists, while we continue to squirrel money into our tokidoki-fund piggy banks. In the mean time, any lucky ones out there who already has one in their wardrobe? Send us some shots of you in them jeans! =D

Latest news!! We’ve been waiting for the tokidoki plushies to be released for so long (since 2006 to be precise) and they’re finally going to be on their way soon! Tenacious Toys are already accepting pre-orders for the first two releases: SANDy and Mozarrella on their site. Here are some photos they have, to show the sizes of these two plushies!

Aren’t they adorable? We’ll keep an eye out to when fans in Asia will be able to preorder from a location near you, so keep checking back to Tokidoki in Asia for the latest news!

I must say that the apparel from Europe is really much much more interesting and eye catching. Take a look at these MUST haves! They carry the “vinyl records” print designs:

This halter top is just awesome! *mental note to self: Priority in tokidoki-to-buy list*

This wide neck top has this retro flair to it that’s actually quite sexy. Include a bright yellow high waisted-belt and you get a mini dress!

Look what we found (well, it’s not exactly the latest news but we had to post this )!

Totally yummy S&M style tokidoki underwear on the Europe tkdk store.

And not forgetting one for the boys! Well that won’t stop me from owning one .

Oh and for those of you in Asia who really, really wanna get your hands these items, do write in to us. If we have a good response, we could do a delivery pool!

tokidoki uchiwa sette!!

I finally got my hands on a tokidoki uchiwa!! Ahhhhh!! After soooo long!! It’s the latest design (sette or 7 in italian) available, featuring vinyls, psychedelic colours in a funky, punk rock style. The handle and frame is made of plastic but the printing is on paper (I think) so you gotta becareful not to get any water on the fan itself. I’m actually stopping short of wrapping the fan up in transparent plastic…

The designs for the front and the back are different as you can see from the images below:

Yummy… I’m totally loving it and it’s currently on display at my desk… =D If you’re looking to get this for your tokidoki collection, you don’t have to look very far because Queen’s Couture here in Singapore actually has them for sale!!

Purring into tokidoki… Miao

More reasons to save for a (tokidoki) rainy day… Zakkamono’s newest creation combined with the visual goodies of Simone Legno is now up for pre-orders. Only 500 pieces of the tokidoki Miao and his companion Mousabi (such a cute onigiri!!) are available worldwide and you can also pre-order from earthx’s site. No prices available as yet on earthx but according to Plastic and Plush, tokidoki Miao is priced at USD$80 + shipping.

I haven’t made up my mind yet whether I would want to get this particular toy, it does look yummy and I have a soft spot for lucky cats. I just thought the design would be more more exciting or oriental to suit the toy… hrmmm but it is only limited to 500 IN THE WORLD… decisions decisions…

(In other news, I have placed an order for the tokidoki + devilrobots Plus Robots that we blogged about previously… very excited waiting for the toys to arrive!)

This is probably a gem of a link that i gotta share with you. It’s actually an online special featuring Simone Legno in a series of videos talking about tokidoki, his inspiration as well as a short demo of how he draws his characters! There are actually more videos but they can only be accessed if you are a paying member of the site. I’m actually tempted to sign up with lynda.com just to be able to watch the other videos…

In any case, the free videos are very inspirational indeed (check out the stickers on his Macbook!!) and is a good reference not only for fans of tokidoki but for designers/illustrators as well – Tokidoki: Creative Inspiration

Whilst surfing around for more tokidoki goodies, I stumbled upon this wall decal design of the tokidoki’s hearts and crossbones logo by WallCandy Arts. Check out the yummy candy colours with two sizes available so that you can do your favourite tokidoki monogram on the walls of your home!
